The Certificate IV in Photo Imaging will introduce you to digital image capture, camera techniques, post production, computer image management, colour theory, lighting, studio and location work, visual awareness and knowledge in relation to our society and elements and principles of design. You will learn how to produce and post edit photographs to a professional standard, to present and discuss your work professionally and to prepare and exhibit final images in a graduating student exhibition.

lollipop photoshootAt AICD subjects are carefully designed to allow students to explore and develop skills in areas in which to follow their individual creative style and niche for the future. Study at AICD combines, theory and practical training, with a strong emphases on elements and principles of design and developing personal creative skills. During this course students are given a wide scope of training to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and creativity that relate to employment within the profession of photography.

AICD offers you the unique opportunity to work with our fashion, styling, makeup and interior design students, providing you with many fantastic opportunities to develop your photography portfolio.

Our teaching staff are passionate, qualified professionals with many years of experience working within the photography industry. Passing on their first hand knowledge and experience to students. This gives our students the ability to gain valuable insights from trainers with real industry experience and benefit from their experiences, knowledge and industry contacts.

During the course students are encouraged to enter into various photography competitions and events. By participating in these competitions and events students will challenge their creative potential, receive invaluable experience and opportunities of showcasing their work.

Career Opportunities:

Graduates may pursue self-employment or freelance work. They may also seek employment as a photographic assistant in industry sectors such as fine art, portrait, fashion, glamour, wedding, travel, sports, illustrative, digitial imaging, photo journalism, stock, landscape or nature. Other potential career paths include technical photography, photo lab assistant or photo store assistant.

Qualification & Units of Competency:

On successful completion of the course, students will be awarded the ‘CUV40411: Certificate IV in Photo Imaging’, which is nationally recognised as part of the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Further Study Options:

The Certificate IV in Photoimaging provides a direct pathway into the Diploma of Photo Imaging (requiring a further 6 months full time study).

Course Duration and Term Dates:

The part time Certificate IV in Photoimaging course runs over 1 day per week over a year and a half with classes every Friday from 9am - 4.30pm (with a half hour lunch break) with a total of 50 days and follows the queensland school term dates.

Students who wish to complete the Certificate IV in Photoimaging full time can do so - please view the Diploma of Photo Imaging information for term dates.

Price:

The course fees are for a position in the course and are payable whether the student completes the course or not. Upon enrolling in the course, the student (and guarantor/s) becomes liable to the institute for the full course fees.

To secure a position in the course, student's must pay a minimum non-refundable course deposit of 10% of the 'Discounted Upfront Payment Price' (listed below).

  • Printing & photocoping by student.
  • Students will be required to pay for their graduation dinner for themselves and any guests. Students will be advised on the price in advance – allow maximum of $80 per person.

Required Course Equipment:

Students will need to provide the following equipment:

  • 35mm DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) Camera. Minimum requirement of 1 lens, although additional lenses are useful.
  • Laptop Computer - see requirements below:

LAPTOP / NOTEBOOK MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Students accepted into the program will be required to have a laptop computer with a wireless network connection. The following minimum specifications are required:

  • Wireless 802.11a/b/g/n
  • Minimum 4Gb RAM
  • CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
  • 2Ghz or faster processor
  • Web Browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari) (free online)
  • Norton Anti Virus - Students will not be allowed to connect to our network without Norton Anti Virus installed and activated.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (free online)
  • Adobe Adobe Photoshop CS4 minimum*
